The hoatzin or stink bird is a tropical bird usually found in swamps and forests. In some countries like Venezuela, you can see them on forestal galleries near the central region of Los Llanos. Since they appeared 25 million years ago in Argentina during the herb expansion, they have developed a digestive system that is very similar to the ruminants one. They can digest cellulose because of the presence of microorganisms (mostly bacteria). They swallow the leaves so they go to one of the bags of their digestive tract and blend with the bacteria. Then the leaves are regurgitated so the bird can chew again and continue the blending. This can be repeated a couple of times more and then the mix of leaves and bacteria continues the digestion. They can fly but they don´t usually do it because they want to maintain their energy level and because they have a huge structure for holding their gizzard, which does not leave much space for the wing's structures. They feed their young with a pre-digested mush rich in bacteria so they are immunized from toxic leaves.
